Work-life balance

If you’ve read my posts before, you’ll know that work appears quite a lot. Today, we have the CEO in town. In some ways I’m dreading it, in others I’m looking forward to how he handles the fact that we achieved our targets in Q1 for the first time in I don’t know how long.

The office is quiet today. People getting on with stuff. Others out on the road with the CEO. One person missing…presumed hungover! It’s going to be interesting…he [CEO] likes to spend as much time in the office as possible i.e. working into the evening from early in the morning is what’s expected by our CEO. This office, according to our boss, has become a “lifestyle office” with various people leaving early on a regular (almost scheduled basis) to pick up children, deliver them to afternoon clubs etc. and then get them home in time to provide food, bathe and off to bed. It will be interesting to see what happens at 5:00pm when half of the office has disappeared…

Work-life balance is something that we all strive to achieve…for some the balance is more “life” than work, but not for a man who has a rather large stake in the future of the business. Watch this space…
