My gran has played a big role in my life. She is a fantastic person, with so much to give, asking very little in return. While I don’t get to see her very much these days – I think of her often. My memories of childhood would be incomplete without her. The items below are [...]

Help! My computer is broken

That’s how my conversations with Mum often start. This week is no exception.
Mum has an old laptop of mine, which had been set up for ‘minimum fuss usage’ – i.e. switch on, hit dial, download email, then disconnect. Nothing complicated. No fuss. Sunday she called (left a message) to tell me she’s getting error 756 [...]
Summer holiday? What’s that then?

This year, BF and I have struggled to find ‘us’ time. Or rather a good time to take a break together. Work gets in the way frequently – for a variety of reasons including confusing quarter end rulings, amd the sheer number of product launches we’re doing before the end of the year. So, our [...]

Working for my previous company, and then myself for a while, I didn’t really appreciate how much free time I had. Now, my day starts early, I drive for an hour, spend a few too many hours at the office, drive for an hour – workout, cook, and then, if I’m lucky, do some housework/watch [...]
Asthma worsens

I’ve had asthma for years. I spent many years believing I was just fat and unfit, and that was the reason I couldn’t keep up. Every year after we graduated from uni, at least twice a year, a group of my friends and I would go away to the lakes – to talk, to walk, [...]

I currently commute in excess of 10 hours a week. This means that I have very little ‘me’ time or more specifically, reading time. I’ve been a big reader for years. I’ll read anything as long as it’s nothing to do with politics. Classics, chick-lit, trashy airplane fodder – not relevant. But, now I’m commuting [...]
Healthy?

I’ve been feeling tired for a while now. Quite a while actually. I thought it was just a combination of starting a new job, getting used to the long commute, and the elements of stress that seem to plague my every day and now I’m not so sure.
I’ve never been good at sleeping. I can [...]
Another week, a tiring one

The past couple of weeks have been tiring. I’m not sleeping. There’s no other excuse, I’m just not catching up and so the sleep deficit grows.
Boyfriend had surgery this week. It was a pretty quick operation that turned out to be a mix of extremely hi-tech and really low tech. The operation was carried out [...]
Mean & downright narrow-minded

Been Tweeting this morning and have noticed a plethora of Tweets from a group of very mean individuals about Jade’s passing. How very narrow-minded of them.
Meanwhile, Lisa Lynch, (aka AlrightTit), lies in a hospital bed after having reconstructive surgery following her battle with breast cancer.
Even if you can’t see past your own ‘narrow-minded’ opinions, just [...]
Jade’s legacy

Unfortunately, Jade Goody lost her battle with cancer and died in the early hours this morning – Mothers’ Day. Her legacy will be to save the lives of many women previously unaware of the dangers of not getting screened regularly for cervical cancer.
Whether you loved or hated the reality star, you have to admire her [...]
